Stacey arrived right on time to get married to the man of her life Dean! Mike her dad proudly walked her down the isle and gave his daughter to be married. With Rev. Singh conducting the service there were some dry eyes and a few tears in the crowd as they said their vows to become man and wife. It was a sweet ceremony and soon they were on their way with the crowd clapping as they came out of St Barnabas Church. We stopped for a few photos with the party and across the street at a old school and then off to have more photos taken with the family and friends at Confederation Park in the North West part of Calgary.
It was a little chilly and a little windy but that didn't stop the couple from laughing and having a good time with their wedding party. We stopped in the tunnel for a few romantic portraits and a kiss and then we were off to the reception at South Calgary Community Centre.
The dinner was great and the speeches were awesome, we shed a few more tears and much more laughter, then with the dance with the famous DJ Johnny Ola the King of Rock and Rolla who kept everyone on their toes dancing and having a great time into the evening.
And all to soon the day was over but not to remember what a great day this had been for Stacey and Dean who are married! And me well I got to be part of this great day, thank you Stacey and Dean for having me! We can only wish you both much happiness and a long life together as you start your new married life!

Mike and Odessa chose Nakoda Lodge in K Country to get married! Getting married in the wide open between the lake and the mountains is wonderful to have as a back ground. It was very sunny and hot that day mixed with the wind to just cool you off. I felt sorry for the guys in their tuxes as they were really hot and on the other hand the ladies looked stunning in their lime green dresses, not to mention Odessa was radiant and looked gorgeous in her flowing wedding dress! They are soon to be blessed with a baby boy and I want to wish them all the very best for years to come!

Yes once again it's accreditation time and this time I am submitting for "COUPLES"!
Couples Portraits consists of 10 images of ten different subjects from ten different photo session, 10 different locations showing ten different poses and have enough variety in the submission to show the photographer's creative and technical ability. Head and shoulders, 3/4 and full lenght poses must be shown. These portraits are of couples only. Must include both environmental and indoors locations and should demonstrate interaction between the subjects and storytelling.

I need six more couples to participate in my couples accreditation. If you would like to be one of my couples all you need to do is contact me. I will photograph the session for free and then select one image from the session to enter. If it gets accepted and hangs I will give you a copy of the image absolutely complimentary and the digital file of the image.

Remember I need 10 images of ten different couples! Portrait session is open to couples in the city of Calgary and surrounding towns within 20 miles of the city.

I could really hang out with these two all the time, we really had a great time together. They really are so much fun to be around and have real love for each other! I am so blessed that they chose me as their photographer out of how many did they see?
Shelley and Dave are getting married September 3, 2011
They went to high school together but didn't really know one another until a mutual friend said that they should get to know each other better since Shelley was taking a painting class and Dave was an art student.
They started talking and then went out for dinner and had a really good time together.
About Dave's Proposal! Shelley according to Dave doesn't do so well with surprises so he kept her guessing where they were going. Dave took Shelley to a dinner where they had their first date and he reserved the same booth that was their first date. They even ordered the same food as their first date 3 years ago! After dinner Dave took her to her old stomping grounds a park that she loves! She had turned around and put down her purse on a platform and when she turned around he had knelt in front of her with the ring out, she was looking at him and not her ring. ABSOLUTELY she said, doesn't that just bring tears to your eyes!
Her favorite thing about Dave is that he is so completely unflappable. He always finds a way to make it through even the toughest situations with a smile on his face and the fact that he is an adorable red head.
His favorite thing about Shelley is she's a surprisingly generous person filled with a lot of love and warmth. Also, she likes puns.
I asked them both what are you both looking forward to on your wedding day!
Shelley said the look on his face when he sees me for the first time that day and I'm looking forward to the end of planning, and well, just being married....(finally).
Dave said to see her too for the first time in her dress and just being married finally too!
Oh yes and I should mention the CAKE!
I am so excited for you two and to be able to spend the day with you both and your family and friends to capture the moments the joy, the love, the laughter, and the tears, a photo moment!

Okotoks weddings and engagement photographer

Andrew and Cheryl are both from Calgary and they met in Toronto. They are living there and going to university. Some of the places Andrew asked me to find were hay bales, rail road tracks and water for their engagement session. So I started off with our lake to give them the water feel that they wanted and met up with Janice. We photographed them for just over an hour and then we headed for the town of Okotoks. A really pretty town with tons of history and old buildings right up my alley! Having my son living in Okotoks I go quite often and scouted out some places where I could take Andrew and Cheryl. Just before we got into town I had found the hay bales, nothing like hoping the fence and we were in. After leaving the farmers fields we headed for the old buildings some of them were built in 1902! Much to their delight I was able to photograph them in a number of awesome places. I sure didn't have to tell Andrew to kiss Cheryl, he just had to look at her and the next thing they were kissing!

Having kids in one's wedding party can really steal the show! They too love to have fun as well as adults do. I thought that I would share a few pointers when having children in your wedding party.
I think one of the most important things to do is to introduce them to your photographer at your wedding rehearsal, this way they know that you with the camera are suppose to be there and not to be afraid of the photographer.
Children get tired especially the real young ones who are about 5 and younger, it is important to bring Children snacks and drinks to the park when photographing as they get hungry and cannot hold their hunger as well as adults do. Also to allow enough photo time for the younger ones as sometimes they don't want to have their photos taken. Try to have their photograph's taken first when doing family photos so that the parents can take them for food and drink and maybe a nap before your reception starts.
The older children want to have fun and they show it with their smiles and especially when they are having a good time making funny faces.
Yes Children can steal the show as you never know what you are going to get when photographing them on the wedding day! Remember it is your wedding day and memories are a treasure to keep forever!

Samantha & Ryan braved the rain and got married out doors at Willow Park Golf Coarse. They waited for the staff to dry off the chairs so their guests could be seated and the service began with Nomi Whalen as their marriage commissioner. The service was wonderful with Ryan in tears as he saw his bride Samantha for the first time walking down the isle. There was soon smiles and laughter as the service continued and cheers when they were finally pronounced man and wife. As we started with the family photos and then into the wedding party and couple at the Golf Coarse, it started to rain again so we broke out the umbrella's and kept on going. So much laughter and fun in the rain. We then rushed off to Lake Bonavista for more photos at the lake just the bride and groom with the wedding party. The rain let up and we were able to have some fun with the party. Along came the rain again so we headed back to the golf coarse. The couple and the party put on their jersey's as they supported their favorite team Calgary Flames for some fun wedding photos. Soon it was time for the reception where the bride and the groom left for a fabulous evening of food, drinks good company and a dance.

Ok I have never just posted just the bride and not the groom, but with Kendra I can't help it!
Not only is she a very loving person for real, she is so sweet and kind. Her smile is contagious and when she laughs she laughs from the heart. Yes Kendra got married and I was so lucky that she choose me as her photographer. I had a little help from some dear friends of mine Keith and Joan who came out and helped me photograph and light the happy couple.
Only today I am not going to show off the groom, well at least not yet. I have more of this beautiful stunning bride Kendra!

Megan and Tyler were married July 30, of this year, this fantastic couple were so much fun to work with. Megan is so photogenic and Tyler is a blast with his expressions! Janice and I started out photographing them getting ready for their big day with Janice going over to the grooms house and me photographing Megan, I had wondered which one of us had the most fun! We sure got alot of smiles and didn't even have to ask them to look at the camera or smile at us!
Janice and I both met up at the Shrine Centre where Megan and Tyler got married under the gazebo on a hot sunny day. There were tears as Megan was walking down the isle, not only was Tyler crying so was I, but I was repaired as I stuffed my something with tissue so I could wipe my eyes. After the ceremony they danced down the isle that was a blast and everyone was enjoying that, they really got into their dance and Janice just kept shooting away to our delight!
It had started to rain but we went under the entrance of the Shrine Centre and photographed them and the wedding party with the two great cars, a mustang convertible and the pace car, what a fun time we had with those two awesome cars. I don't know which one I like better, yes I do the mustang!!! We then headed over to Baker Park after it stopped raining and I had about 45 minutes with the couple and their wedding party to take photos. We worked them hard and I have to thank Tyler's Dad Robert because not only was he holding and hauling all my gear he also helped himself to my camera with photos, he got some amazing shots of the couple while I was posing them and fluffing Megan's dress. THANKS ROBERT!

On a hot Saturday afternoon Cheryl and Andrew were married in St. Steven's Church! The happy couple were met by family and friends with a spray of bubbles to congratulate them as they came out of the church.
We then rushed off to McDougal Centre for photos, we were very lucky to get the front arches and steps for their photos. Off by limo we then headed for McKenzie town and hooked up with the roman arches, in the bright hot sun for some wedding party and fun shots. To cool them off I took them down to the water fountains, where they were congratulated by young children who wanted to come up and tell Cheryl how beautiful she was!
We ended up with dancing in the water fountain but they didn't get wet, but it sure was much cooler by the water.

Jenn and Brodie met at South Centre Mall, they both worked in different stores. They soon became a couple. I had the pleasure of meeting Jenn a few years back as I got to know her father John who is a fellow photographer friend of mine. I was honored when Jenn asked me to take her wedding photos. I tagged along with her dad to photograph their engagement session last year, just for the fun of it and got some amazing photos of the two of them, with one of them now hanging on my wall for all those to see. I soon saw how much Jenn and Brodie loved each other!
I met up with Jenn and the girls at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino to photograph the very beautiful Jenn getting ready. From there we headed over to my lake in Lake Bonavista to photograph Jenn and Brodie, here is where he saw his bride for the first time in her wedding dress as we photographed the bride and groom and the wedding party ahead of the ceremony!
From the Lake to the Calgary Zoo where the ceremony took place we met up with Nomi Whalen the JP who performed the ceremony. Many tears were flowing!

Dayle and Darcey's wedding party were the best! A good time was had by all with tons of laughs and great party spirit! We started out with the family photos down at the Ranch and ended up in Lake Bonavista. On our way out to the limo we stopped to smell the lilacs they are in bloom at this time of the year and Darcey couldn't help kissing his new wife in this tender moment as she stopped to smell them.

I was given the pleasure to second shoot for a fellow photographer friends of mine Joan and Keith Fox! When they asked me to come out and work with them I jumped at the chance to be able to go out and photograph a wedding just in a photo journal style, how nice was that not to be in charge and just go with the wind! Dayle and Darcey were a great fun loving couple to work with and I was pumped. I was able to catch them having fun and being themselves on their wedding day.
Dayle and Darcey have an amazing love story! She asked Darcey for their 1st date in Junior High! And their love grew from there!

Cheryl and Andrew are getting married in July, this fun loving couple met in Toronto while attending University there. Andrew is from Calgary and Cheryl from Red Deer! Small world meeting up at university and now getting married in Calgary.
Cheryl likes the Oilers and Andrew is for the Stampeders! Andrew asked if I could find him hay bales and rail road tracks while Cheryl asked for waterfalls and grass with trees, I was happy to find them everything that they asked for, for their engagement session. We started off with the Lake photo's over at Lake Bonavista and then moved out to a farmers field in Okotoks and ended with really old buildings from the 1900's.
We ended the session with me taking them out for coffee at my favorite spot Tim Horton's! Just in time before the rain started!

Paul and Angela practically grew up together, they met in grade school in Winnipeg and stayed really close friends for years. They didn't start dating until last year, now the pair are in love and it shows. Paul is going to school here in Calgary, while Angela holds down 2 jobs in Winnipeg.

The 2010 National Image Competition of the Professional Photographers of Canada took
place this week during Inspiration 2010, the Annual Convention of the PPOC, in Mont-Tremblant, QC.
Linda Senychych,
a professional photographer from Calgary, AB,
had 1 image accepted
and exhibited in the National Image Competition, judged prior to the Convention by a panel of Master
Photographers from across Canada. Acceptance in the competition earns the
maker Merits toward several Degrees offered to PPOC members, including the prestigious
Craftsman of Photographic Arts and Master of Photographic Arts. It is also an indication of
the makers’ ability to produce above average images for their clientele.
The competition features entries from across Canada in many different classes, including
Portraiture, Wedding, Commercial, Digital and Specialist categories. Members also are
able to enter Salons in their respective regions of Canada annually, increasing their
opportunities to earn recognition for their skills as a PPOC member.

PPOC wishes the recipients and their sponsors continued success.

Barb and Chris were married on March 13, 2010 at The Inn in Lake Bonavista. It was a romantic setting in front of the fireplace with a number of guests watching as the happy couple said their vows. What was nice is that I was able to photograph the wedding with beautiful available light that was coming in through the windows. We had a sunny warm day and the rim lighting coming in was beautiful. I always love it when I have beautiful light. It makes the couple more relaxed not using the flash as they are getting married.
I was lucky to have this happy couple all to myself over at the lake for some photos before they got married. As we were walking along the path of the lake their guest could see them from the deck of the Inn and every once in a while you would hear a whistle.

Yes once again PPOC 2010 print comp is coming up and who will be this years photographer of the year! Every year I like to enter some of my work and see what comes of it.

I wonder if my friend Denise knows she is so popular this year with me. I had the pleasure of photographing Denise and Robin's wedding back in July of 2009 and decided to enter them.

She is thrilled that I used some of her portraits.

While strolling through Fish Creek park after an awesome engagement shoot I came across the big buck and couldn't resist getting a photo of him. My husband loves it so much he asked me to print it for him. And again I was photographing a family session and I couldn't believe how good my families dogs were. They were so well behaved and understood everything you said, well almost I would say. These two were a couple of real cute dogs.

I posted my prints a little while ago but I have done more work on the images tweaking them even more!

So here is hoping that I hang one or maybe 2 or just wouldn't it be fabulous if all 4 got accepted and hung at this years 2010 convention!

I have been a long time member of the Professional Photographers of Canada, and loving every minute of it! We have our 2010 convention coming up very soon and I am busy trying to put together images for print competition. Mat and Michelle are getting married in May and I am so happy for them! I asked Michelle how did you meet Mat? I worked at Trios Pizza and Steak house and he came in as a customer. How many more times did he come into Trios before he asked you out? 2 more times.
What is your favorite thing about each other? Michelle said his support and well being, and Mat say she's easy going and strong!
Mat loves kisses and I didn't even have to ask him to kiss Michelle, and Michelle loves hugs and Mat was always hugging Michelle.
I asked them how did Mat propose? He laughed and said lying in my parents bed after I got hit by a car with a broken leg on drugs I proposed to Michelle!
Then I asked them what are you both looking forward to on your wedding day?
Michelle said I am looking forward to our vows and the expression on his face when Mat sees me for the first time! Mat said seeing Michelle for the first time will make me cry!
How romantic is that as I sat in the back seat of their car with tears in my eyes!
